01

Getting started

Who we are, where we work and how a project begins.

How do I start a project, and what happens next?

Choose a free consultation or a quick estimate. From there, every project follows the same steps:

  1. Consultation or quick estimate. We measure or review your space.
  2. Proposal. You get your design and price by email.
  3. Approval and deposit. A 40% deposit locks in your install date.
  4. Production. Your system is built in our Santa Clara shop.
  5. Installation. Usually one day, about 2–4 weeks after your order is confirmed.

What areas do you serve?

We serve homes across the Bay Area, from San Francisco and the Peninsula to the East Bay and the South Bay, plus Modesto. Our shop is in Santa Clara. If you are not sure we cover your city, just ask.

Are you licensed and insured?

Yes. We are a fully licensed and insured California company with more than 18 years of experience.

What are your business hours?

Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Saturdays are available by appointment.

Who do you work with?

Homeowners, contractors, builders and interior designers on residential projects of every size, from a single reach-in closet to a whole house.

Do you work on new construction and remodels?

Yes. We work on new builds, remodels and existing homes at any stage. If your space is still under construction, a quick estimate is a good way to start budgeting.

Do you only build closets?

Closets are our specialty, but we also design pantries, garages, laundry rooms, home offices, mudrooms, entertainment centers and other built-in storage. We do not build for wet areas such as showers.

Do you manufacture your own products?

Yes. Our systems are built locally in our own shop. Sliding doors and some accessories come from trusted suppliers.

02

Consultations & estimates

Two ways to get a price, depending on how ready your space is.

What is a free consultation?

A free 30–45 minute meeting, in your home or online, where a designer reviews your space, takes measurements and talks through layout and options. You receive a custom design and proposal afterwards.

What is a quick estimate?

A price based on the photos, measurements or plans you send us, usually within 24 hours. It is ideal when your space isn’t ready yet or you are still setting a budget.

Request a quick estimate

Should I choose a consultation or a quick estimate?

If your space is ready to install and you want an accurate price, book a consultation. It includes precise measurements and a full design. If you are early in construction or just exploring budgets, start with a quick estimate. Some complex projects, or spaces that aren’t ready yet, may not qualify for a consultation.

Can I do a virtual consultation?

Yes. Online consultations work especially well for planning and framing stages.

Do I need to prepare anything for my consultation?

Clearing the space helps but isn’t required. Photos, floor plans and inspiration pictures are always welcome. If the space is cluttered, we work around it and take final measurements before production.

03

Design & proposals

What to expect after we see your space.

How long does it take to get my design and quote?

We usually email your custom proposal within 72 hours of your consultation. Quick estimates usually arrive within 24 hours of receiving your project details.

Will I see my design and measurements before I commit?

Yes. You review the design and pricing before placing an order, and your designer will go over unit sizes and layout with you. Nothing goes into production until you approve the final design.

Can I make changes to my design?

Yes, reasonable revisions are included. Major redesigns after multiple appointments may carry a design fee of $250 per hour (2-hour minimum), which is fully credited if you move forward with us.

How do I send design changes?

List your changes by room name and unit number, and mark up the drawings if you can. For example: Primary closet, Unit 2: add two drawers and a laundry hamper. Reference photos help. For bigger changes we may set up a quick call.

04

Products, materials & sizes

What our systems are made of and what comes standard.

What material do you use?

3/4″ industrial-grade melamine. It is low-emission and NAF-compliant, so it is safer for your home. White is our standard finish, with other colors and wood grains available as upgrades.

See our materials or browse finishes.

What comes standard in your closets?

Floor-mounted units with a continuous toe kick, soft-close drawers, adjustable shelves and hanging, polished chrome rods and bar or square pulls. Our designs are modular, so your system can grow or be reconfigured later. Backing panels are not included in closets.

What door styles do you offer?

Flat doors are standard. Shaker, framed glass and framed mirror doors are available in a range of finishes.

Do you offer sliding closet doors?

Yes, more than 21 styles including mirror, glass, veneer and painted panels. Lead time is about 2–3 weeks after we measure on site. Ask us for the sliding door catalog.

What accessories are available?

Hampers, wire baskets, pant racks, jewelry trays, valet rods, hooks, mirrors and more. See accessories.

Can I add lighting?

Yes. It is best to plan lighting during the design phase. You will need a working outlet inside or near the closet, since we do not do electrical work. Your designer can price lighting with your quote.

Is your material water-resistant?

It is very durable, but we recommend keeping it away from areas that get wet directly.

What are your standard closet sizes?

Units are 16″ deep and 86″ tall, in widths of 15″, 18″, 24″, 30″ and 36″. Standard sizes cut waste, keep costs down and make future upgrades easier, but every project can be customized.

What drawer sizes do you offer?

Drawers are 16″ deep and 18″ to 30″ wide, with heights from extra small (5″) to extra large (12.5″). A filing drawer is also available.

Can I see samples before I decide?

Yes. Your designer brings samples to your consultation, you can request our catalog, or visit our Santa Clara showroom. Appointments are recommended so someone is available to help.

05

Garage cabinets

How our garage systems differ from closets.

How are garage cabinets different from closets?

Garage cabinets are wall-mounted so they float off the floor. They have thicker adjustable shelves for heavy loads, soft-close drawers and white backing panels. Legs are optional.

What are your standard garage cabinet sizes?

36″ wide, 21″ deep and 80″ tall. Sizes, layouts, finishes and accessories can all be customized for a workshop, extra storage or a clean showroom look.

What other garage storage do you offer?

Slatwall, overhead racks, workbenches, mudroom cabinets, and dedicated storage for bikes and shoes.

06

Installation

Preparing for install day and what our crew handles.

How soon can my project be installed?

Typically 2–4 weeks after your order is confirmed. Sliding doors take about 2–3 weeks after on-site measurements.

How long does installation take?

Most projects are installed in one day. Larger or more complex projects may take two or more consecutive days.

Do I need to be home during installation?

Not necessarily. As long as our crew has access, we can complete the install while you are away.

Do you remove my old system?

Yes. Tear-out and disposal of your old closet system are included at no extra cost.

Are baseboards removed?

Yes, by default, so your new units sit flush against the wall. Keeping baseboards in place may cost extra.

Will you repair or paint my walls?

We do courtesy touch-ups with paint you provide, limited to the areas where the old system was. Full-room or professional painting is not included.

Do you do electrical or plumbing work?

No. If you want lighting, make sure there is a working outlet in the area before install day.

Is it normal to see small gaps between the units and the wall?

Yes. Walls and floors are rarely perfectly straight, so small gaps are normal and help ensure a clean, safe installation. They are usually under 1/4″.

How should I prepare for installation day?

  • Remove personal items from the installation area.
  • Keep kids and pets away from the work area.
  • Leave keys or entry codes if you won’t be home.
  • Have paint ready if you want touch-ups.
  • Tell us in advance about any obstacles in the space.

Will there be dust or a mess?

Some dust is normal, but our crew cleans up and leaves your space ready to use.

Do you install on weekends?

Sometimes, depending on availability. Contact us to ask.

07

Pricing & payments

What your quote covers and how to pay.

What is included in my price?

Your quote covers the product, taxes, delivery, professional installation, and tear-out of your old system. There are no hidden fees.

Is a deposit required?

Yes. A 40% deposit confirms your project and secures your installation date. We then order materials and share your timeline.

When is the final balance due?

When installation is complete. You can pay the installers by cash, check or Zelle on the day.

What payment methods do you accept?

  • Zelle: send to qclosets@gmail.com with your project address in the notes. Bank limits may require more than one transfer.
  • Check: payable to Quality Closets Designs, mailed to 1685 Russell Ave, Suite E, Santa Clara, CA 95054.
  • Bank transfer.
  • Credit card: call us for a secure payment link. A 3.5% processing fee applies.
  • Cash: accepted at our office only. Please call before coming in.

Why might my price change?

Your price can change if you update finishes, hardware, layout or sizes, add features, or if the project is outside our usual service area.

What if an item is backordered?

If an outsourced item hasn’t arrived, you may hold back up to 50% of the remaining balance for that item until it is installed. Special-order items cannot be cancelled.

Will I get a receipt?

Yes. Receipts are emailed within a few hours of payment, or the next business day for payments made after hours, on weekends or on holidays.

08

Warranty & service

Repairs, add-ons and changes after installation.

What warranty do you offer?

A 10-year warranty on parts and labor for defects under normal home use, for the original purchaser. Sliding doors carry a separate 1–5 year supplier warranty. It does not cover misuse, normal wear and tear, environmental damage, or items bought elsewhere, even if we installed them.

How do I make a warranty claim?

Email qclosets@gmail.com with your receipt, a description of the issue and photos. An inspection may be needed.

Can I add to my closet later?

Yes. Our systems are modular, so adding units or accessories is easy. Send us a service request for a quick estimate.

Can you add to or upgrade a system you didn’t install?

Yes, we can often add to or upgrade an existing closet even if another company installed it. Send photos and measurements and we will let you know what’s possible.

What counts as a service request?

Repairs, adjustments, replacements, moving cabinets or adding new units to a project we installed, whether last month or years ago. Submit a service request with your project address, photos and a short description, and we will follow up with next steps, pricing and scheduling.

Can I move cabinets you installed?

For your safety and to protect your warranty, please don’t move them yourself. Send a service request with photos of the cabinets and the new location and we will handle it.

What if something looks wrong after installation?

Please don’t use the space, keep kids and pets away, and contact us right away at (408) 420-0284. We will come back and make it right.

I’m not sure how to use a feature of my new system.

Contact our team anytime. We are happy to walk you through it.

09
